By Michael Chapp, COO of Oura

In 2012, Oura set out on a mission to change the world of health — to empower everyone to own their inner potential and realize health as a daily practice. We are sincerely thankful for all of you who have joined us on this journey as each and every one of you is at the core of what we do. Today, we are thrilled to share that we have raised a meaningful amount of capital, at a $2.55 billion valuation, to invest in enhancing your Oura experience and bringing actionable health insights to daily lives.

Our vision for Oura is expansive. We imagine a future where Oura delivers custom insights on your health and wellness, fresh content to inform you, and personalized coaching to inspire you, all in the name of helping you understand how your daily decisions impact your health. We can see a world where Oura is your trusted ally, supporting you (and yes, sometimes gently prompting you) to make decisions that improve your life. This is the future of Oura and you, our members, are at the center.

How do we bring this vision to life? We hire amazing talent to bring it all together into one seamless member experience. We invest in research and development, science, software, and the hardware to enable our mission. We foster a community of passionate users and experts to educate and inform you.

Along with the new features we’ve recently launched with Gen3 — including Daytime Heart Rate, Restorative Time, Live Heart Rate, Cycle Insights, and Explore content, featuring new meditation, breathwork, and sleep content — you can also look forward to the launch of Workout Heart Rate for running, cycling and walking in June 2022, Blood Oxygen Sensing this summer, and updated Sleep Staging this fall.

Independent research validates health outcomes and is pivotal to moving the industry forward. In collaboration with the University of California San Diego and the University of California, Berkeley in separate studies around reproductive health, researchers are exploring how Oura’s continuous temperature tracking technology within the ring can help detect hormonal changes that have the potential to indicate pregnancy or key events in the menstrual cycle, such as ovulation. This research and Gen3’s advancements are just scratching the surface on how the Oura Ring technology can help with all aspects of health, including reproductive health, illness detection, activity, recovery, and mental health.

We have an ambitious roadmap ahead, and we are heads down in delivering these milestone feature updates and planning for the future.

With over a million rings powering our community and this new financing to support our team and technology growth, we celebrate our Oura members, your limitless potential, and our journey ahead together.

Thank you,
Michael Chapp
