Every human being has an ideal bedtime window. You may be more or less sensitive to how much going to bed at the right time each night affects your sleep quality, but the truth is that a consistent sleep schedule is the key to getting great sleep every night.
One reason is that what time you go to bed and when you wake up both affect how much restorative deep sleep and rapid-eye movement (REM) sleep you get.
Another reason is that your ideal bedtime is associated with your individual circadian rhythm and daily habits. In other words, there’s a time when your body is ready to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up, and giving your body rest when it’s ready gives you more energy the next day.

As soon as you begin wearing your ring, Oura starts looking for patterns to better understand how you sleep. What time did you go to sleep on nights when you received high Sleep Scores? Did your resting heart rate lower to optimal levels during the night, or did it stay elevated? These cues allow Oura to guide you in the right direction.
Your Ideal Bedtime appears after 2 to 3 weeks of ring use, provided you’ve had a few Sleep Scores over 85. You can locate your Ideal Bedtime at the bottom of the Home tab.
Click on the Ideal Bedtime window at the bottom of your home tab to view your sleep habits over the previous 4 weeks and see how frequently you’ve been sticking to your recommended bedtimes.
You will see your bedtime and wake-up time over the past 4 weeks, as well as how well you’ve been adhering to your personalized bedtime window.
Knowing this can help you fine-tune your bedtime habits.
If you have an irregular sleep schedule or consistently low Sleep Scores, Oura may have trouble providing bedtime guidance. Keep wearing the ring and stick to a consistent sleep schedule for a week or two. This will give Oura the information needed to give you personalized guidance.
