What are the Benefits of Getting Oura Ring Through FSA/HSA?

The biggest benefit is that you can use pre-tax dollars to buy Oura Ring—meaning you’ll spend less out of pocket while gaining access to daily health insights that support sleep, stress, and long-term wellness. This inclusion of Oura Ring in FSA and HSA coverage is a game-changer. Key benefits of getting Oura Ring through FSA/HSA:

  • Save on cost: When you utilize FSA or HSA funds, you’re using your pre-tax dollars to buy your Oura Ring. Reimbursements from these funds are tax-free, which means that you’re converting some of your salary into tax-free income.
  • Use it or lose it!: When you enroll in an FSA, the IRS requires you to spend any contributions in your account by an annual deadline. Otherwise, the money is forfeited. Due to this, more than 40% of FSA account holders forfeit a portion of their contributions.
  • Eligible for dependents: HSA and FSA funds can typically be used for the account holder and their dependents, which means Oura can support health for the whole family.
  • Track multiple areas of health in one tool: Oura started as a sleep wearable but now tracks 50+ health and wellness metrics from sleep, activity,  and recovery, to stress, heart health, and women’s health—all covered under FSA/HSA funds.
  • Support everyday decisions: Beyond long-term prevention, Oura provides daily insights—like how alcohol affects your resting heart rate or when you should start winding down for sleep—that you can act on immediately.
  • Invest in your long-term health: Preventive tools like Oura can help you spot trends early and build healthier habits, which may reduce your risk of developing conditions that often lead to costly medical interventions.

It All Starts with Sleep

Oura began as a sleep wearable designed to help people understand and improve their nightly rest. While it has since evolved into a comprehensive health tracker—continually collecting data on 50+ health and wellness metrics—sleep remains the foundation. That’s because high-quality sleep is one of the most powerful tools for preventing long-term illness and extending healthspan.

According to the CDC, 1 in 3 adults in the US don’t get enough sleep, and chronic sleep deprivation raises the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, dementia, and even cancer. Healthcare providers are increasingly recognizing sleep as a cornerstone of preventive healthcare. “People dramatically underestimate how much sleep is linked to all the diseases killing us,” says sleep scientist Matthew Walker, Ph.D., author of Why We Sleep. “Sleep is the Swiss army knife of health. When sleep is deficient, there is sickness and disease.”

Research—including many studies done using Oura Ring—shows that better sleep supports mental, reproductive, metabolic, and cardiovascular health. In other words, by prioritizing sleep and tracking it with tools like Oura, you’re not just improving your nights—you’re protecting your long-term health.

What Oura products are NOT eligible for HSA/FSA funds?

Extended Protection Plans (two-year or three-year coverage) are not eligible. All other Oura products in the online store, including the ring, membership, chargers, and shipping, typically qualify.

Most providers don’t require it, but some may. If needed, a healthcare professional can provide a letter explaining how Oura supports your health.

Can I buy an Oura Ring as a gift using my HSA/FSA funds?

No. By law, HSA and FSA funds can only be used for the account holder or eligible dependents, not for gifts.

What happens if I return a product bought with my HSA/FSA card?

Refunds must go back to the same HSA or FSA account. If your account is closed or inactive, the refund may not be processed.

What if I don’t use all of my FSA money before the deadline?

FSA contributions are “use it or lose it.” If you don’t spend them before your plan’s deadline, you forfeit the money. Many people choose to spend leftover FSA dollars on Oura before year-end.
