This collaboration aims to introduce John Hancock life insurance customers to Oura Ring — the newest device to be compatible with the John Hancock Vitality Program, when combined with Oura Membership. Oura Ring offers the best of wearable tech, data, and metrics to inspire healthy change. By leveraging the strengths of John Hancock and Oura, customers can gain tools to live a more balanced life.
What is the John Hancock Vitality Program?
Offered on every John Hancock policy since 2018, John Hancock Vitality combines life insurance with a technology-enabled program providing education, support, incentives, and rewards, designed to help customers live longer, healthier, better lives. It covers a broad spectrum of activities including exercise, nutrition, sleep, preventative screenings, and mindfulness, and rewards policyholders with Vitality Points for the everyday steps they take to stay healthy. The more points a customer earns, the higher their Vitality Status, and the greater their potential for rewards. Program rewards vary but may include savings on the cost of the individual’s insurance and exclusive travel and retail discounts.
How will Oura be used in the Vitality program?
Vitality customers who become Oura Members can use Oura Ring to earn Vitality Points for healthy sleep and mindfulness practices, such as meditation and breathing exercises, found in the Explore Tab within the Oura App*. Using Oura Ring and App, members can gain a strong understanding of the hours they sleep each night and the number of minutes they spend each day engaged in mindfulness. Using individual data and metrics to support foundational health is at the core of Oura’s mission to empower every person to own their inner potential. Of note, John Hancock will not receive any individual health data or metrics from Oura.

Oura Membership, powered by Oura Ring and App, is designed to help members understand and improve their sleep, recovery, activity, and overall health. Oura Ring tracks valuable health metrics like resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, and more, providing personalized insights and recommendations based on individual data and measures the body’s response to lifestyle choices. Oura Membership is required to earn Vitality Points.
