At Oura, your health data is deeply personal, and protecting it is fundamental to everything we do. We don’t sell your data, and we never share it without your consent. You’re always in control—whether you export it, delete it, or connect it to apps like Apple Health or Strava.

We comply with strict standards (e.g., GDPR and HIPAA), use strong encryption, undergo regular independent audits, and design our systems with privacy-first architecture. Independent groups (like Mozilla’s Privacy Not Included) have recognized this commitment.

Below, learn exactly how partner integrations work, what data can flow to and from Oura, what our consent screens say, and how to change your mind at any time.

How Oura Partner Consent Works

When you connect a partner in the Oura App (☰ → SettingsApp integrations), you’ll see a consent screen that clearly states:

  • Which data types the integration can read from Oura (e.g., workouts, heart rate, sleep)
  • Which data types the integration can write into Oura (e.g., workouts from Strava, routes from Apple Health/Health Connect)
  • That you can revoke access at any time (☰ → SettingsApp integrations → choose partner → Revoke/Disable)

You’ll also find per-integration toggles so you can grant only what’s necessary. If you later change your mind, simply turn off individual switches or revoke the integration entirely.

What We Share—and What We Don’t

  • We share only with your explicit consent. You control the connection and the data categories.
  • We share the minimum necessary. Each integration is purpose-built (e.g., sending your Activity Score to Strava, or importing a run from Apple Health).
  • You can disconnect at any time. Turning off or revoking an integration stops data flow going forward.
  • You can export or delete your data. Those choices are yours.

Integration Snapshots (What Flows Where)

Strava

Enable: ☰ → SettingsApp integrationsStravaContinueAuthorize

Oura → Strava (export)

  • Workouts recorded with Activity Heart Rate
  • Readiness and Activity Scores
  • Optional Oura Stickers (share Sleep/Readiness/Activity visuals to your feed)

Strava → Oura (import)

  • Workouts + details (timing, duration, pace)
  • Heart rate

Imported workouts appear on your Today timeline and count toward your Activity Goal and Activity Score. Oura syncs activities only for the current day (no retroactive imports). If the same workout exists in multiple sources, Oura keeps a single, most-reliable record.

Apple Health (iOS)

apple health

Enable: ☰ → SettingsApple Health → choose what to share (you can also manage in iOS HealthPrivacyAppsOura)

Oura → Apple Health (export)

  • Sleep (duration, stages, start/end, respiratory rate)
  • Heart rate (1-minute intervals)
  • Steps, weight, height
  • Active/Resting energy
  • Workouts (manual, AAD, or Activity HR) incl. active calories, distance, type, duration
  • Mindful Minutes

Apple Health → Oura (import)

  • Workouts (routes, calories, distance, duration, type)
  • Heart rate, steps, total calories
  • Demographics (date of birth, height, weight, sex)

Health Connect by Android

android partner integrations

Enable: ☰ → SettingsHealth Connect → choose read/write data types

Oura → Health Connect (export)

  • Heart rate (1-minute), HRV, height, weight
  • Sleep (bedtime, wake time, duration, stages, nighttime RHR)
  • Steps, distance, total/active calories
  • Workouts (manual, AAD, or Activity HR) incl. active cals, distance, type, duration

Health Connect → Oura (import)

  • Workouts (route, calories, distance, duration, type)
  • Heart rate/HRV, steps, total calories, active calories, distance, power

Natural Cycles

Enable: In the Natural Cycles app → MenuSettingsMy device → connect Oura; wear your ring overnight and open Oura in the morning.

Data shared

  • Only temperature trend data goes from Oura → Natural Cycles each morning to help calculate daily fertility status.
  • No period data or other Oura metrics are sent. (Log period in NC° directly.)

Prediction differences are normal: Oura uses temperature trends for Cycle Insights/Fertile Window; NC° uses its FDA-cleared algorithm for birth control/fertility.

Stelo by Dexcom (Glucose in Oura, US only)

Enable: ☰ → IntegrationsDexcom Stelo (or Glucose) → Connect Stelo sensor (sign in with your Stelo email)

Stelo → Oura (import)

  • Glucose data only (displayed in Oura Home/Vitals/Glucose)

Oura → Stelo

  • No data is sent back from Oura to Stelo.

If Apple Health or Health Connect is also enabled, some data that those platforms collect may flow into Stelo via their settings—not via Oura.

Amazon Alexa+

Enable: In the Alexa app → Settings → Skills & Games → search Oura → Link Account (or start account-linking by voice on an Echo device).

Oura → Alexa+ (export)

  • Sleep Score and Readiness Score (surfaceable on request or through routines).
  • Bedtime and wind-down reminders (based on your Optimal Bedtime Window).
  • Activity nudges (integrated with your calendar).
  • SpO₂, heart rate, and other wellness briefings (when you ask or via proactive notifications).

Alexa+ → Oura (import)

  • Meal logging: log a meal by voice, added directly to Oura.
  • Routine triggers (e.g., Oura data can activate an Alexa routine like dimming lights at bedtime).

Notes on Privacy

  • Participation is optional, and you have full control over when and how you use Alexa+.
  • Only the minimum data needed for the integration flows to Alexa+; your data is not shared for advertising.
  • Women’s health data is never shared.
  • You can unlink your account at any time, which deletes your Oura health data from Alexa.

Other Featured Partners (Where to Find Them)

You’ll find additional partners inside the Oura App (☰ → Integrations), including:

  • Fitness: CorePower Yoga, The Sculpt Society, Technogym (typically ingesting your Oura readiness/sleep/stress to personalize coaching)
  • Stress & Resilience: Headspace (curated sessions in Oura Explore; Daytime Stress may recommend tracks when “Stressed”), Open (uses Oura sleep in the Open app)
  • Women’s Health: Clue, Flo (via Apple Health/Health Connect plumbing)

As with all partners, you choose what to connect and what to share.

  • Reinstall Oura (with backup): ☰ → SettingsAccountBack up all data → uninstall/reinstall the Oura App.
  • Revoke access: Go to the partner’s settings (e.g., Strava/NC°/Stelo) and remove Oura, then in the Oura App (☰ → SettingsApp integrations) select the partner → Revoke access.
